Editing

How Does it Work?

It's really easy. Just fill in the form below, which will give us all the information we need regarding your manuscript. We will then contact you within forty-eight hours to discuss your next course of action.

Ideally, we would like to perform a manuscript review before any edits take place.

To do this, once we have made contact with you, we will ask you to send us your first chapter, up to three thousand words, just to see if you like our editing, and from our perspective, to see how many rounds of edits you could require. If you are happy with this assessment, we will enter into an editing agreement.

We won't do anything without your consent, and up until we begin the edit you have the right to withdraw your manuscript without incurring any charges.

First Pass - Full Content Edit

Word count x 0.0035p = Total to pay

Example:

10,000 words x 0.0035p
= £35.00 /$46.00
Second Pass - Line Edit

Word count x 0.0018p = Total to pay

Example:

10,000 words x 0.0018p
= £18.00 /$23.50
Third Pass - Proofread

Word count x 0.0009p = Total to pay

Example:

10,000 words x 0.0009p
= £9.00 /$11.75
Overview
  1. You send us your first chapter to review (up to three thousand words). This should be .rtf, .doc, or .docx format. Once received, we will advise accordingly.
  2. You amend your document as to our advice, or you can leave it to us to correct during the first round content edit. At this point, you will either enter into an editing agreement, or you can decline our services. There is absolutely no obligation to proceed.
  3. You submit your full manuscript along with a 50% deposit for one full content edit.
  4. We give you an estimated time of return and we start work on your edit.
  5. You review your document and make amendments accordingly.
  6. You are then invoiced for the other 50% of the initial fee.
  7. Balance must be paid in full before entering an optional second round line edit.
  8. Once payment is complete, we can now look at starting a second round edit, if you require it. This will be a line edit and is charged at half the price of the previous edit. Once again, we require a 50% deposit with the other half being paid upon completion. There is no obligation to perform a second edit if you don't want to.
  9. Upon completion of the line edit, you will be invoiced for the other 50% of the fee.
  10. Balance must be paid in full before entering the optional third round proofread edit.
  11. Once payment is complete, we can now look at starting a third round edit, if you require it. This will be a proofread and is charged at a quarter of the original edit price. Once again, we require a 50% deposit with the other half being paid upon completion. There is no obligation to perform a third edit if you don't want to.
  12. Upon completion of the proofread, you will be invoiced for the other 50% of the fee.
What is a Full Content Edit?

This is when your manuscript is assessed as a whole and potential issues of organisation, structure, coherence, and consistency are corrected. Some sentences may be added or removed. Some paragraphs may be condensed, expanded, or even rewritten. Sections of text may be swapped from one section to another.

What is a Line Edit?

A line edit is when your editor will correct issues with grammar, repetition, words used, and style.

What is a Proofread?

A proofread is a relatively light editing process. Here, any minor issues are amended. These minor issues include the following:

  • word usage and spelling errors ( their/there/they're, to/too).
  • punctuation and capitalisation errors (using colons, commas, periods, apostrophes etc.).
  • style and grammar errors (units such as ml, use of words and numerals such as “three” or “3”, verb tense).
How Much is it?

Our fee for editing is £3.50/$4.00 per thousand words for a single full edit.

If you decide to proceed, you will then be asked to pay an initial 50% deposit in advance based on one full edit. The remainder of the money owed should then be paid upon completion.

To proceed with a second edit (if required), the original payment agreement will need to be completed/paid beforehand.

A second edit will be charged at 50% of the original rate. This round/rate is also the charge for a line edit should your manuscript have been edited elsewhere. No additional edit will be made without prior consent of the author.

A third/fourth edit will be charged at 25% of the original rate. This round/rate is also the charge for a proofread should your manuscript have been edited elsewhere. Again, no additional edit will be made without prior consent of the author.
